Don’t panic about the brain-eating amoebas

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

Apologies for the long silence. Busy, busy, busy at home – still not at all sure I’m going to survive this semester – and now we’re at my parents’ in Indiana for a few days, attending the Lotus World Music Festival. I’m enjoying some family time, and trying to relax and have fun, while also not falling behind in course reading, because there is NO POSSIBLE way I could catch up, if that were to happen. Sigh. Odds and ends

Busy, busy times. I keep thinking of things I’d like to blog about, and then not having the time to follow through with the train of thought enough to create a complete blog post, let alone to sit down and write a complete blog post. It finally occurred to me to learn from my friend BC and just post a numbered list, so I can unload all these random bits of thoughts and move on. (more…)

Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day, mateys! In honor of the occasion, I thought I’d write a post about our favorite pirate, Gregory the Green. (more…)

Our Tilt is home – got here around 11:30am yesterday. Zag, Prize, and I were all exceedingly happy to see him. We had a nice quiet afternoon together. He’s off work for a few days now – post-travel leave to recover from jet lag & reconnect with life. It feels awfully good to have him home.

And it’s not a moment too soon. Zag is running around naked – got out of his jammies, & now refuses to get dressed – and he found his little toy tape measure, and is happily measuring his penis. A mother just can’t cope with these situations.

Work in Progress: Bible icon

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Just to keep up my creds as an artsy-craftsy type, here’s what I’m working on now. I’m submitting a digitized version of the piece to the Massachusetts Bible Society as a submission to their logo contest, on the theme, “One Book, Many Voices.”

Yes, I just posted two blog entries in a row. Yes, I posted two blog entries yesterday, too – but one of those was really from Monday. Apparently I’m reaching the stage of Tilt’s absence when I’m desperate to talk to someone, and my blog is becoming the outlet.

On costume

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Zag and I read catalogs together sometimes. I got a catalog from some company called Costume Express recently, and we were looking through it and discussing the costumes this morning. When we came to the one pictured above, Zag gazed at it for a moment, then remarked, “That person fall down shark.” Yeah. (more…)

A couple of weeks ago, our old friend Scout the Dog went on her way to whatever place God has set aside for beloved pooches. (more…)

The wilds of Peabody

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Monday we went up to Brooksby Farm in Peabody with our friend Boo and her kids, who are 20 months and three-years-plus. It was a lovely outing. (more…)

Living it up in K-town

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Would-be readers of my partner blog Always Another Windmill will have noted that our Tilt’s temporary exile in Kampala, Uganda, has not resulted in more blog posts. This is because his social life in Kampala this week has been much more active than it normally is at home in Our Fair City. One night he was invited home for dinner with someone he works with, but mostly he’s been helling around with our old friend MK. (more…)

Things we like

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

We don’t like it so much when Tilt has to go away for two weeks. We do OK, but we miss him lots, and sometimes we feel a little sorry for ourselves, Zag, Prize, and I. But then there are things we do like, to cheer us up. (more…)
